Is Short Term/Long Term Disability worth it?

by | Jul 27, 2022 | WC - Long-Term Disability |

If you pay into or your employer provides a Short Term Disability (STD) or Long Term Disability (LTD) Plan and your treating doctors support your inability to work, you should apply for these benefits.

When you apply for STD/LTD benefits, the insurer will need to obtain copies of your medical records to verify your disability. It is important that your doctors state how your diagnoses prevent you from working. Specifically, your medical records need to outline your functional limitations both in and out of work.

If the STD/LTD insurer agrees that you are totally disabled, you will be approved for month benefits. Most STD/LTD policies allow you to obtain 60% of your pre-disability earnings. While it is not 100% of your income, the alternative is to receive no income.

If you are denied benefits, we can help you.
